Flat Rolling Fundamentals (Hardcover): Vladimir B. Ginzburg, Robert Ballas Flat Rolling Fundamentals (Hardcover)
Vladimir B. Ginzburg, Robert Ballas
R9,169 Discovery Miles 91 690 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

This volume compiles information from physics, metallurgy, and mechanical and electrical engineering to epitomize the fundamental characteristics of flat rolling steel. Flat Rolling Fundamentals is drawn from in-depth analyses of metal properties and behaviors to technologies in application. The book provides a full characterization of steel, including structure, chemical composition, classifications, physical properties, deformation, and plasticity. The authors present different types of rolling mills and the defining physical analytical parameters. They also discuss the effects of hot rolling on steel and the role of lubrication and thermomechanical treatments to minimize these effects. This book presents qualitative and quantitative advances in cost-effective steel production.

R12,905 Discovery Miles 129 050 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Emphasizing solutions to the problems of achieving tight tolerances of important geometrical parameters such as thickness, width, cross-sectional profile, and flatness, this reference focuses on the principles and applications of the latest technology for producing high-quality, flat-rolled steel products.;Illustrated with more than 700 drawings, High-Quality Steel Rolling: defines the geometrical parameters of flat-rolled products in both conventional and standardized forms; clalssifies the various types of transducers and sensors and provides definitions of basic metrological terms; examines thickness and width control in rolling mills, outlining the methods of width change by casting rolling, and pressing; discusses the theoretical aspects of roll deformation, roll thermal expansion, roll wear, and roll bending in relation to strip profile and flatness; reviews various control systems such as roll bending, roll shifting and roll crossing, as well as systems for utilizing rolls with specific profiles and flexible edge rolls; analyzes the main causes of imperfections in the performance of contemporary automatic control systems; and investigates new computer modeling capabilities for resolving problems in product quality.

Metallurgical Design of Flat Rolled Steels (Paperback): Vladimir B. Ginzburg Metallurgical Design of Flat Rolled Steels (Paperback)
Vladimir B. Ginzburg
R1,934 Discovery Miles 19 340 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

This book outlines the basic principles of metallurgical design of flat rolled steels to obtain flat steel products with required metallurgical and mechanical properties. These principles establish the requirements for steel chemical composition and the process parameters, including steelmaking, reheating, hot rolling, annealing and cold rolling. Metallurgical Design of Flat Rolled Steels reviews the current theories and experimental works conducted in this area, and gives a comparative analysis of the obtained results in application to a large variety of steels produced around the world. This guide presents essential material in a fashion that permits rapid application to practical problems while providing the structure and understanding necessary for long-term growth. It first explains how the components fit and work together to make a successful experimental design, then analyzes each component in detail, presenting the various approaches in the form of menus of different strategies and options. Then the text illustrates equations developed by various researchers and compares them in both table and graphic forms. Written in a clear and concise manner, the material is presented using a modular or "building block" approach so readers get to see how the entire structure fits together and learn the essential techniques and terminology necessary to develop more complex designs and analyses.

Flat-Rolled Steel Processes - Advanced Technologies (Hardcover): Vladimir B. Ginzburg Flat-Rolled Steel Processes - Advanced Technologies (Hardcover)
Vladimir B. Ginzburg
R6,428 Discovery Miles 64 280 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Throughout the last two decades, the flat-steel production industry has experienced great success with the introduction of new technologies and manufacturing advances for both hot and cold steel-rolling. These improvements are resulting in significantly reduced production costs and better product quality. Recent consolidation of the steel industry which has led to improved sharing of technological breakthroughs between plants is creating an optimal atmosphere for the implementation of advances.

An assessment of industry progress, Flat-Rolled Steel Processes: Advanced Technologies details these improvements, assembling input from 62 international contributors specializing in various areas of research and development of steel production technology and manufacturing of flat steel products. It describes the challenges and the latest solutions to problems in four major areas:

  • New concepts and modernization of rolling mills
  • Modeling of flat-rolling processes
  • Measurement, automation, and process control
  • Strip profile and flatness control

Written for a broad audience, each chapter familiarizes readers with a different aspect of the latest theoretical and practical developments in the field. With its roots in the series of technical publications that summarize and review manufacturing developments for flat-rolled steel products, this volume explores the significant developments that are modernizing automation, process control, mathematical modeling, and quality-monitoring systems in flat-rolling processes. This includes the introduction of computer-based technology in both new and existing conventional rolling mills.

Providing expert insight and analysis related to technological improvements, this book will help readers understand the current state of flat steel production, how it evolved, and its future direction.

Prime Elements of Ordinary Matter, Dark Matter & Dark Energy - Beyond Standard Model & String Theory (Paperback, 2nd Revised... Prime Elements of Ordinary Matter, Dark Matter & Dark Energy - Beyond Standard Model & String Theory (Paperback, 2nd Revised ed.)
Vladimir B. Ginzburg
R1,146 Discovery Miles 11 460 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The book describes a history of the vortex theory. Introduced at the dawn of science almost 2600 years ago, it had passed through five phases of accumulation of its strength by absorbing the discoveries made during the Greek civilization, the Copernicus Revolution, the age of electromagnetism, the atomic age, and the information age. During the first four phases (see Chapters 1 through 12 of this book), the development of the vortex theory followed the same misfortunate pattern. Each time, this theory managed to bring attention of a new generation of brilliant scientists, who were enchanted by a deep physical meaning of its basic concept. But, although they employed the latest advances in science, none of them was able to produce a mathematical tool making the vortex theory practically usable. The fifth phase began in 1993 with the discovery of a unique spacetime spiral element, called the toryx. The toryx is a particular case of a multiple-level dynamic spiral with a poetic name helicola that describes the paths of all moving celestial bodies in our universe. The ability of the toryx to be turned inside out made it perfect for modeling the polarized prime elements of matter. A close offspring of the toryx called the helyx turned out to be ideal for modeling the polarized prime elements of the radiation particles. This discovery led to the development of a new version of the vortex theory called Three-Dimensional Spiral String Theory (3D-SST) outlined in Chapters 13 through 16.
